This Week In WWE

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas, now we are back to the business of wrestling. How good will Christmas week WWE be? Average is the answer.

Cena showed up and coerced the fans into chanting CM Punk at Elias. They don't need encouragement to do that shit. Elias, much like most normal people, thinks that the people of Chicago should get the fuck over it. He and Cena fight, Cena wins.

Itami used the GTS for the last time, as he smashed Brian Kendrick's face to bits. That's all she wrote for that finisher.

Absolution had another 6-woman tag. Standard.

Ambrose will be out for 9 months. That's the Shield done.

Braun murdered Dallas and Axel. Kane murdered Slater. Balor murdered Hawkins. Hawkins ended the year 0-149. Reverse Goldberg.

Sheamus gives Cesaro a Dean Ambrose action figure complete with missing arm. Savage. There is also a Jason Jordan action figure but nobody wants it. Makes sense.

The cruiserweights get lumbered with the Christmas novelty match.

Samoa Joe beats Reigns by DQ, pretty much as it to be expected. Reigns, in typical Reigns fashion, decides to continue the beat down. He's a face.

Alexa Bliss looks into the face of destruction, that face is Asuka's.

Rollins and Jason Jordan won the tag belts. Not sure why. The match was decent though.

Daniel Bryan books a US Title tournament, fills out TV I suppose. He also books a triple threat number 1 contenders tag team match.

Big E calling Shelton Benjamin 'Old Jason Jordan' might be the best throwaway line this year.

Gable and Benjamin won the title shot by being the only team the crowd doesn't really care about.

Bryan and Shane have a conversation about booking what the fans want rather than booking what you want. It was way more on the nose than I think they intended.

Bludgeon Brothers continue the bludgeoning of Breezango. Ruby Riott beats Naomi in under a minute.

Bobby Roode beat Baron Corbin, and Jinder Mahal beat Tye Dillinger in the first round of the US Title tournament. I guess Jinder's WWE Title aspirations are on the back burner.

Shane McMahon makes more enemies as he costs Styles the main event by getting involved in his match with Owens. The match was good too.

Itami, as expected, has been banned from doing the GTS and now uses a grounded version of the octupus stretch. That was what put away Gallagher on this show. Nobody in the crowd cared as the result was never in doubt.

Tony Nese defeated Akira Tozawa, there is very little else to say about it.

Once again Gulak is prevented from doing his powerpoint presentation. Let the man get his shit in.

The main event was Alexander & Ali vs Gulak & Daivari. I feel like that has been the main event of 205 Live many times.

The Street Profits got a nice squash victory to start the show.

Ember Moon's title defense against Sonya Deville suffered greatly from not one single person ever believing that Deville was going to win.

Kairi Sane comes out to challenge Moon but gets choked the fuck out by Shayna Baszler.

Moon says if anyone wants a shot at the title they need to prove it in the ring.

The main event was the 4-way number 1 contenders match between Johnny Gargano, Lars Sullivan, Aleister Black and Killian Dain, and in keeping with recent episodes of NXT it was a great match. There is a great spot where Sullivan is set up on the announce table and Dain splashes him through it off the stage. In the end Gargano wins after the Undisputed Era cost Black the match. It sets up two matches for TakeOver: Philly.

Best Show - NXT (I swear that at some point a different show will win this. That will be next week as NXT is a recap show.)
