RevPro Live In NY Review

This show has a couple of matches with real potential, due to the New Japan link.

CCK vs Clark Conners & Karl Fredericks

This is the Brookes/Gresham version of CCK, AKA the better one. I wasn't expecting anything from this match but I was pleasantly surprised. Gresham is so good that he could wrestle anyone to something entertaining. CCK pick up the win. ***1/2

A-Kid vs Carlos Romo vs Kid Lykos vs Flamita

Some good talent in this fucker. A-Kid has already had a banger today and now he has another. This was a showcase match for everybody involved and a great one at that. A-Kid shone brightest but not by much, and the finish built a future Romo vs A-Kid match with Romo stealing the pin from his partner. Lovely. ****

Brian Cage vs The OJMO

If this had been a quick sprint it could have been fun but it was surprisingly competitive and The OJMO was a bit shit. *1/2

Will Ospreay & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Minoru Suzuki & Zack Sabre Jr

Holy shit, there will never be a time when Kaze Ni Nare doesn't give me goosebumps. Minoru Suzuki was on prime form here, beating Ospreay's nose off his face. I don't think this was the peak version of this match but it was still great and you can understand if they held a little bit back for MSG. Ospreay didn't though because he's crazy. ****1/4

Rocky Romero vs Ryusuke Taguchi

Taguchi is a weird dude. Two or three times a year he will do have a great match. This wasn't one of them. It never got going with me at all. **

Tomohiro Ishii vs David Starr

This was a very good match, albeit one that seemed a bit subdued. All of the pieces were there for them to produce a really great match but it never quite kicked into it's highest gear. You should still give it a watch though.  ***3/4

Aussie Open vs Roppongi 3K

Literally the only reason that this match headlined was because they needed to get the big matches done so people could get to Takeover, and it showed as a ton of people had left the building. The match was fine but they made it too long to make it feel like a main event to those still in the building but it never really did as it lacked heat. I feel sorry for them as if this had been the match that started off following intermission it would have been better. ***

Overall Thoughts

Because of the weird card structure the show felt like it was the wrong way around, making it seem somewhat disjointed. You should still check out three of the matches though as they are well worth anyone's time.
