PWG Threemendous V Review

I haven't done a PWG review in a bit so I thought I'd review this one. It features a few matches that could be really good so let's hope for the best.

David Starr vs Dalton Castle

This was a solid but ultimately unspectacular start to the show. Castle was clearly struggling a touch with his injury and it hampered him somewhat. **1/2

Penta El Zero M vs Rey Horus

Now, this was a step up. These two know each other really well and they could have a great match in their sleep. They aren't in their sleep though, so they kick fuck out of each other. ****1/4

Jeff Cobb vs Joey Janela

This was fun. If you aren't a fan of Janela, this isn't going to change your mind at all. There was a crazy spot where Cobb picked up Janela, who was sitting on a chair, and launched him into another chair. ***1/2

PWG Tag Titles - The Rascalz vs Young Bucks

Before the match started, the Bucks said they had been reading 'The Art of Psychology' so this match would be a psychology party. I'm simple, so it got a laugh from me. The match itself was exactly what you would expect from these teams, crazy athleticism, big tag moves, and a bit of comedy thrown in for good measure. This is a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend your time. ****1/2

Rey Fenix vs Trevor Lee

Both of these men are great wrestlers but for some reason, this one didn't click as well as it should have. It was still good, but I expected better. ***

Matt Riddle vs Marty Scurll

This will go down as Riddle's last PWG match, and it is a shame that he didn't get to have his send-off moment as his NXT signing came about quickly. This was a good way to go out though. They had a really good 10 minute sprint, with both men getting in their signature stuff, including Scurll snapping the toes of Riddle. Fun times. ***3/4

PWG Title - WALTER vs Brody King

If you are looking for fancy technical wrestling and highspots, you will not find them here. What you will find is two big bastards beating the piss out of each other, and it is wonderful. King has grown on me a lot since I first saw him and WALTER is as good as there is right now. If you like stiff, chop heavy action then you can do a lot worse than this. ****1/4

Overall Grade - B+

This was a bit of an up and down show but the good certainly outweighed the average. Three of the matches are definitely worth checking out.
