This Week In WWE

Another week of WWE is in the bag and this is some of what happened.

  • Braun Strowman got fired for his expert grappling hook skills. He got his job back after destroying his place of business. There is a lesson to be learned here.
  • While we are on the subject of Braun, he appears to have weird strength. He can flip over a semi truck but struggles a bit with a 180 pound announcer. Maybe Michael Cole has massive density.
  • Braun likes cake.
  • Titus Worldwide beat The Bar again. The only reason I can think of to do this is if they are having The Bar take the titles at the Rumble. It could literally be any reason though.
  • The cruiserweights did something.
  • Asuka beat Nia Jax by referee stoppage after Nia got a knee injury. I'm not sure that anyone really benefited from this but it was fine.
  • Jason Jordan is planning something, you can see it in his eyes, but I'm not sure what it is.
  • The Revival beat up Bayley's fiance then said that they are wrestlers, not sports entertainers. I reckon they might be taking a beating from some legends next week.
  • Reigns beats both of the Miztourage in a boring, nothing match. Got to fill the time I suppose.
  • Sonya Deville beat Sasha Banks in under 3 minutes, which makes her look like a threat heading into the Rumble.
  • Goldberg is Hall of Fame bound. Fair enough.
  • Seth Rollins used the Curb Stomp to beat Finn Balor. Hopefully he starts using it again as it is a much better finisher than the ripcord knee.

  • Almost all of this show was dedicated to the US Title tournament. That would be fine if the matches were good but they were nothing special. Roode won the tournament and will probably be put in a feud with a returning Ziggler. Colour me meh.
  • What this show did give us was 35 minutes of Jinder Mahal wrestling, so if that's your thing...get help.
  • The only non tournament match was, predictably, a 6-woman tag match. I've said it before but the Smackdown women's division has incredibly lazy booking.
  • AJ Styles told fat jokes about Kevin Owens and called him and Sami, 'Kami'. Whoever is writing this shit needs a slap.
  • The show was pretty crap.

  • Gran Metalik beat TJP again. And TJP threw another shit fit about it. Match was solid though.
  • Jack Gallagher is the new man with the plan.
  • Goldust beat Nese, Gulak & Daivari in under 4 minutes. I can't figure out why this division is shit.

  • Sabbatelli & Moss beat Heavy Machinery. More steaks and weights are needed.
  • Undisputed Era says that TakeOver will be all about them. They have a point.
  • Roderick Strong beat Fabian Aichner in a solid match. Aichner is getting better and has a good amount of potential. Strong has a death wish and calls out Lars Sullivan.
  • There is a video on TM-61. It was a good way to reintroduce them after their injury layoff.
  • Lacey Evans beat Aliyah in a pretty rough match. That is part of what NXT is for though.
  • Lacey Evans says that the NXT women's division is garbage and she is gonna clean house. It's nice to see her have some personality. Shayna Baszler runs her off and chokes out Aliyah before Ember Moon makes the save. It was a good segment.
  • Zelina Vega runs down Johnny Gargano and convinces him to put his number 1 contendership on the line against Velveteen Dream. It was good work from both of them.
  • In the main event Authors of Pain beat Street Profits to give them a decisive victory heading into their tag title match at TakeOver.

Show of the Week - NXT

At this point it is getting to the stage where it seems like NXT will be the best show every week. Raw suffers from being too long, Smackdown is poorly written/booked and 205 Live is pretty much meaningless. NXT fits so much into it's runtime.
