This Week In WWE

Raw was pretty run of the mill this week. It had some moments but it didn't really stand out as a must watch show.

Samoa Joe has a unique delivery to his promos that sets him apart from all of the other heels. He comes across as more sinister, almost hitman like. The opening promo on the Shield was great, with Joe & The Bar setting a trap for the Shield.

Absolution continued to run roughshod over the women's division until they ran into Asuka, who managed to at least fight them off temporarily. The entire women's division decided they had had enough though and ran Absolution off.

Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt continued their Great War of Insanity. I'm not sure how this is possible, but Wyatt's nonsense seems more tangible in this mental feud.

Finn Balor had another random match.

The singles matches between the Shield and Samoa Joe & The Bar were all good but there needs to be special mention for Reigns vs Cesaro because it was pretty fucking great. Reigns is a far, far better wrestler than people give him credit for and Cesaro is fucking great. Check it out.

As far as the cruiserweight division goes, Cedric Alexander won a number 1 contenders qualifying match after Rich Swann lost his spot due to his arrest. The main thing to take from this show, though, is that Drew Gulak is a fucking gem. He is even a legend on commentary. I demand they put the title on him immediately.

Kane & Braun went to a no contest in the main event. This is apparently setting up a triple threat Universal Title match at Royal Rumble. The curse of the pointless Rumble title match strikes again.

This was the go home show for Clash of Champions and true to form it was mostly trash.

AJ Styles pretends to make friends with the Singhs before beating them down to make a point to Mahal. He won't be put off by their mind games.

The Riott Squad angle on this show seems eerily familiar. I feel like I've seen it somewhere before. Oh yeah, on this week's Raw.

The build for the triple threat US Title match has been completely bollocks. They seem to be stuck in a loop where they book the same thing week after week.

The Bludgeon Brothers got another squash win.

Aiden English sings the 12 Days of Rusev. It's lovely.

The situation involving Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and their Occupy Smackdown movement is a weird one. They are trying to channel what Daniel Bryan did, calling it the Yep movement. The thing here is I presume that Owens and Zayn are sopposed to be the heels but the points they are making are valid, due to Shane acting like an arrogant prick. Shane's case as a face wasn't helped any by Byron Saxton acting like a stooge on commentary in the main event and getting ripped to shreds by Daniel Bryan, and to a lesser extent Corey Graves. Saxton sounded like a fool, especially when he said that Owens trying to blind Bryan at an independent show didn't count because it didn't take place in WWE. I'm not sure if they are planning some kind of massive multiple person heel/face turn but I refuse to believe that Saxton is supposed to be seen as the face commentator here.

Drew Gulak tries to show a Powerpoint presentation of how Noam Dar can better rehab his knee injury. He's a top bloke is Drew.

Cedric Alexander vs Ariya Daivari and Jack Gallagher vs Kalisto were both average matches.

The main event ended up basically being a terrible angle where Enzo forced Gulak to attack Nese to prove his loyalty. It was crap and the fans hated it.

When 205 Live had terrible numbers it was actually a pretty entertaining show. It now has better numbers but Enzo is dragging it down. Shows like this are insufferable.

Almas had a good, short match against Fabian Aichner. Aichner is looking good.

Authors of Pain squashed Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. It's a shame that it was Burch & Lorcan. I like those dudes.

Dunne vs Bate III and SAnitY vs Undisputed Era next week. Get hyped.

Ember Moon beat Peyton Royce and was attacked by Billie Kay post match. Nikki Cross made the save and eyed up the title.

The main event was Adam Cole vs Aleister Black in a number 1 contenders qualifying match. The match was good but it was too short in my opinion. They could have had a really great main event if they had dedicated 12-15 minutes to it. Black won to progress.

Show of the week - NXT (None of the shows were particularly great)
