NJPW G1 Climax 27 Night 13 Review

Even though this is Night 13 there are only 2 wrestlers that are out of contention in Block A and that is unlikely to change with tonight's matches.

Block A Match - Yuji Nagata vs Kota Ibushi

You may very well be bored of me saying this by now but this is another really good Nagata match. It is once again in vain though. I am going to miss Nagata when next year's G1 rolls around. Ibushi makes wrestling seem easy, which it really isn't. Nagata kicks out of a Last Ride before being put away with a big knee strike. ***3/4

Block A Match - Bad Luck Fale vs Tomohiro Ishii

If you have any doubt that Ishii is one of the best wrestlers in the world, watch this match. He takes Fale, who is not a great wrestler, and drags him to a really good match. He sells the big man's offence really well and made his tough guy comeback at the end. In the end it wasn't enough as Fale picked up the win. Really good match. ***1/2

Block A Match - Hirooki Goto vs YOSHI-HASHI

This was a decent match, though it never kicked in to a higher gear until the very end. Despite once again losing, YOSHI got a good amount of offence in before succumbing to two GTRs. In no way was this memorable but is did it's job. ***

Block A Match - Zack Sabre Jr vs Tetsuya Naito

Of all the wrestlers in this tournament Naito has been possibly the most inconsistent. We get a good performance here though. As has been the pattern in this tournament, Sabre Jr had the lion's share of the control in this match. They have done a really good job of establishing him as better at the wrestling part than anyone. Naito was forced to change his style here and in the end he managed to sneak out with the win after hitting a Destino. This was the best match on the show. ****

Block A Match - Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Togi Makabe

I have no idea why they chose this match as the main event but here we are. This didn't feel like a main event. It was a relatively basic match that only went 12 minutes. It wasn't a bad 12 minutes and the crowd was invested so it wasn't a complete waste but I feel like it would have been better served earlier in the card. Tanahashi picked up the win with the High Fly Flow. ***
