WWE Raw Recap (24th July 2017)

We open the show with Kurt Angle. He says that Jason Jordan will have the opportunity to shine but he will have to do it himself. He then goes on to address Summerslam and this brings out BRAAAAAAAUUUUNNNNNNNN. He says that Angle best be announcing him as the number one contender because he won at Great Balls of Fire unlike Joe & Reigns and he isn't worried about Lesnar. Joe is out next. He says that he was moments away from choking out Lesnar and wants the opportunity to do it again. Reigns is out next. He claims that Joe hasn't done anything, completely overlooking the fact that he has beaten Reigns twice. He runs down his list of accomplishments. Angle books a fatal 4-way for Summerslam. Braun gives zero fucks about it, more bodies for the pile. They have a brawl and Braun straight up murders one of the security guards. He just fucking lobs him. Really good opening segment and I'm excited for the PPV match.

Elias Sampson sings a song but his performance is interrupted by Finn Balor.

Finn Balor vs Elias Sampson (No DQ) - You know what, this was a pretty good match. Shame it had a bit of a shit finish, even if it did continue the Balor/Wyatt feud.

Renee Young interviews Angle about Jason Jordan's debut. He says he is nervous as a father. Emma turns up and wants to know what she has to do to get some exposure. She says she might start dating Angle's son. Angle isn't happy about this and books her in a match with Nia Jax.

Enzo tells Big Show he has a cunning plan for his match with Cass.

Enzo Amore vs Big Cass - Essentially a squash match. Enzo's cunning plan was for shit.

After the match Show turned up to save Enzo. But Cass battered him too. On to Cass vs Show.

Alexa Bliss wants to see Bayley and Sasha Banks destroy each other.

Nia Jax vs Emma - Actual squash match. Emma may not be long for this world.

Tozawa wants another match with Daivari. Titus says he is too banged up and has canceled the match. Tozawa is having none of it and heads to the ring.

Tozawa calls out Daivari but Neville arrives and says that he was the one that originally injured Tozawa's shoulder. He says that Tozawa is a shell of his former self. Tozawa attacks Neville but Daivari turns up and beats them both down. It's strange to have Daivari in the title picture.

Bayley and Sasha have a chat backstage. Bayley says may the best woman win and Sasha says the best woman will win.

Seth Rollins wants to talk strategy with Dean Ambrose but Ambrose wants none of it. Rollins says that they have 3 men to contend with. Ambrose says Rollins may have 3 but he has 4.

Bayley vs Sasha Banks (Number 1 Contenders Match) - This was a really good match. Certainly better than all but one match from Battleground. Bayley picked up the clean win which was nice as I expected shenanigans.

Jason Jordan vs Curt Hawkins - Jordan won in a squash, obviously.

The Revival tell everyone how great they are, how they dominated in NXT and beat the Hardy's. Anderson & Gallows turn up to call them nerds.

The Revival vs Anderson & Gallows - The Revival win a decent enough match. Following the match the Hardy's run off the Revival.

Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins vs The Miz, Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel - This was a good main event, albeit one that I thought ran a touch too long for what it was. Ambrose and Rollins picked up the win when Ambrose hit the Dirty Deeds. After the match Rollins wanted to do the Shield fist bump but Ambrose told him to do one.

Overall Thoughts

This was generic TV for the most part but it was so much better and and more sensible than Battleground. The opening segment was great and there are a couple of decent matches.
